JOIN US

If you work or live in Youghal or the surrounding area you are part of our common bond and eligible to join Youghal Credit Union.

The common bond is the factor, which unites the members of the credit union - it is what members have in common. Because of the common bond, all members have the good of their community at heart, they know and trust each other. The common bond ensures that the savings of members of the community are available to fellow members as loans. It also enables members to know each other and to make credit judgements on character and personal record rather than on commercial `risk’ factors.

Juvenile Accounts

You must be 2 years of age to become a member. If you are under 2 years of age you can open a juvenile account.

New Born Accounts

Any child born to a member will have an account opened and Euro 10.00 credited to the account in the childs name on presentation of a birth certificate.

Group Or Club Accounts

We also accept group and club accounts within our common bond.

The Member As Shareholder.

By opening your account with Euro 6.35 you become a shareholder which entitles you to one vote in the running of your credit union. You can exercise this vote at the A.G.M which is normally held in November each year.

Money Laundering Requirements

Under the terms of the Criminal Justice Act 1997 we require the following with each membership application

Junior Credit Union

We operate a Junior Credit Union in Youghal CBS secondary school on Friday mornings. The transition year students operate the Junior Credit Union.

Sammy Stamp Savings Scheme

We operate a Sammy Stamp savings scheme in twelve primary schools in our common bond area. Stamps cost only 1 Euro and we always encourage pupils to open an account and lodge their complete cards to this account. When you lodge a complete card of stamps to your account you receive a small gift.
